I am happy to communicate that the third quarter of 2024 saw continued growth in new NutraCycle projects. Since August 29th, the total number of projects increased by four, bringing the total to sixteen. Carbiotix added three laboratory pre-studies and one pilot pre-study. The company expanded its customer base with three new customer projects in Europe and its first customer project in Africa. Among these new customers are two companies with annual revenues exceeding 1 billion USD. Additionally, five new customer side-streams were added, and Carbiotix now has customer projects across all side-stream categories.

So what is onsite upcycling?
In short, it’s about creating healthier more profitable and sustainable products by extracting soluble prebiotics, proteins, polyphenols and other nutrients from any hemicellulose plant-based side-stream – right on site! The material that is extracted can then be used to reinforce new or existing products or sold off-site for a higher value than sending the material to feed, landfill or biogas production directly. Any insoluble fractions that are left can be used to produce biobased packaging or bioenergy, thus utilizing more or less 100% of your incoming raw material. This makes a lot of sense!
