Carbiotix partners with Balsgård Foodtech to accelerate AXOS scale-up

Oct 27, 2021, 08:45

Carbiotix (publ) ("Carbiotix" or "Company") today announces that it will partner with Balsgård Foodtech AB (”Balsgård”) based in Sweden to accelerate the scale-up of its second generation prebiotic soluble fibre CarbiAXOS. This will allow Carbiotix to also accelerate the submission of its first GRAS Self Affirmation dossier by providing the required product samples in Q4.

Kristofer Cook, CEO of Carbiotix, comments
"I am very pleased to communicate that we will be partnering with Balsgård to accelerate the scale-up of CarbiAXOS. Since our first production site is still under construction and phase 1 will not be completed before the end of the year, this partnership will allow us to accelerate the production of key product samples required for the submission of our first GRAS Self Affirmation dossier. Saving us approximately 3 months in this process. This partnership with Balsgård, which follows a successful trial production run in Q3, will also allow Carbiotix to access key expertise in the foodtech area going forward.

We are continually looking for strategic partners that can assist Carbiotix as we scale up CarbiAXOS and build out a world-class portfolio of prebiotic modulators. This partnership with Balsgård, a company that has successfully carved out a niche as a leading innovations partner in the foodtech space, will allow Carbiotix to ultimately become a stronger production company. This transition to becoming a production company is not easy and strategic partnerships are critical, especially in the early days. I look forward to further collaborative opportunities with Balsgård going forward as well as the other supply chain, contract manufacturing, technology and financing partners we are currently interacting with. Saying this, we are of course open to and welcome other potential partners, a philosophy which I think is consistent across our modulator and diagnostic business areas. This will ultimately serve to accelerate our learning curve, reach the market sooner, and allow us to finance expansion more favorably for our shareholders."
