Carbiotix signs collaboration agreement with Lund based Aventure AB

Mar 30, 2023, 08:45

Carbiotix (publ) ("Carbiotix" or "Company") announces today that the Company has signed a collaboration agreement with Lund based Aventure AB (“Aventure”) for the development of new prebiotic consumer products and to support each-other’s technology development activities. Aventure was co-founded by Rickard Öste, one of the co-founders of the NASDAQ-listed Oatly Group AB. This is Carbiotix first collaboration agreement with an established developer of functional food and beverage products for consumers and establishes a model for how the Company will work with customers going forward.

Kristofer Cook, CEO of Carbiotix, comments
“I am very happy to announce this collaboration agreement with Aventure for the development of new prebiotic-based consumer products and to support each-other’s technology development activities. By collaborating on this level, we will be able to more effectively explore new product opportunities using prebiotics derived from local raw materials, as well as leverage the infrastructure that each company has built up in terms of lab, pilot and production resources. For me, this collaboration is natural given our proximity to each other in Lund and the connection with Rickard Öste who was previously an external advisor during the early days of our technology development at Lund University. Moreover, as a B2B focused company, we are very complementary to Aventure’s B2C focus.

This collaboration agreement also establishes a model of how we will work with customers going forward and will be a pre-curser to signing supply agreements. Given that we are focused on offering high-end prebiotic nutraceutical and cosmetic ingredients, it is in our interest to ensure that our customers receive the best available prebiotics with the highest effect possible in relation to cost. Thus, customizing our products for maximal effect and validating this internally and with our customers is a key first step to establishing long-term supply agreements. Allowing our customers to then leverage our LinkGut microbiome testing service will help ensure that the desired effect of our customer’s products is validated, optimized and in some cases even personalized for consumers.

Although our focus is today on nutraceutical and cosmetic applications, entering into collaboration agreements with functional food companies and eventually mainstream food and beverage companies is a medium to long term strategy as we reduce costs with an increased scale of production. In this regard, I look forward to establishing a long-term collaboration with Aventure and helping them bring to market competitive products that have a positive & validated impact on consumer health and wellbeing.”
